Before you connect
Lancer signs in to Upwork as you, so a couple of Upwork security settings need to be right first. In your Upwork security settings:
Turn off "Sign in with Google". Lancer signs in with your email and password, so Google-only sign-in blocks the connection.
Turn off "SMS Text Messages" for 2-factor authentication. SMS codes can't be re-entered automatically, so the session would keep dropping. If you want to keep 2FA on, use an Authenticator App instead and enter your setup key during the connect step — see How to find your Authenticator setup key.
Turn off "Mobile App Notifications" for 2-factor authentication. Upwork's push-approval method (the "Verify an Upwork app notification" screen) cannot be automated and is not supported by Lancer. Disable it in your Upwork security settings under Two-Step Verification. If you want to keep 2FA on, switch to an Authenticator App instead.
Connecting your account
Open Connected Accounts and click Connect.
Security check: confirm "Sign in with Google" and SMS 2FA are off, and tell us whether you use an Authenticator App.
Enter your credentials: your Upwork email, password, the answer to your Upwork security question, your Authenticator setup key (if you use one), and your country/region.
Submit. Your account then syncs for a few minutes before you can use it.
Connecting is safe — your credentials are encrypted and Lancer is built to behave like normal human activity. See How does Lancer ensure account safety?
Last step: link it to a campaign
Connecting an account isn't the same as using it. Open your campaign's Configuration tab and select this account so the campaign bids from it.
Troubleshooting
"Internal server error", a 501, or it spins forever: this is almost always the connection region. Select a different region and try connecting again.
"Incorrect credentials": re-check your password and security-question answer, and make sure "Sign in with Google" is actually turned off on Upwork.
"Please disable 2FA Mobile App Notifications. This method is not currently supported by Lancer.": you have Upwork's push-approval 2FA enabled. Go to your Upwork security settings and turn off "Mobile App Notifications" under Two-Step Verification. If you want to keep 2FA, switch to an Authenticator App instead — see How to find your Authenticator setup key.
Still stuck: message us in the chat and we'll connect it from our side.
