Unified Inbox + CRM lets you manage your Upwork conversations inside Lancer - read and send messages, organize leads, create tasks, and keep everything in one place.
Instead of juggling multiple Upwork sessions, spreadsheets, or shared logins, you can centralize your messaging and lead management inside Lancer.
It’s especially useful if you:
manage multiple Upwork accounts
work with team members or assistants
want a cleaner system for handling leads and conversations
Multiple Upwork accounts
You can connect multiple Upwork accounts and manage all conversations from one unified inbox.
Once connected, messages from all accounts appear inside Lancer, so you don’t need to switch between separate Upwork sessions.
Teams and assistants
Instead of sharing Upwork logins or having multiple people log into the same Upwork account directly, your team can work from Lancer.
This gives you a more centralized and organized way to manage conversations collaboratively.
1) Connect your Inbox
Your Inbox is not connected automatically.
To connect it:
Open the Inbox tab
Click Connect Inbox
That’s it :) - your inbox will be connected in a few minutes.
Once connected, your rooms will start showing up in Lancer.
Note: If you’re using an Agency Manager account, you still need to connect your own Upwork account in Lancer.
This is required because messages can only be sent from an account that is directly connected. Upwork does not allow sending on behalf of another account unless that specific account is connected.
2) What you can do inside Lancer Inbox
Inside Lancer, you can handle the core messaging workflow you’d normally do in Upwork.
This includes:
viewing all rooms and message threads
reading and sending messages
using emojis
sending and downloading attachments
scheduling meetings
switching between connected accounts
managing conversations without logging into multiple Upwork sessions
3. Refreshing conversations
For now, conversations do not refresh automatically in the background.
To fetch the latest messages, simply use the Refresh button in the message preview list.
This lets you quickly pull in new messages whenever you need them.
Automatic background refresh is coming in soon.
4. Manage conversations inside the CRM
Once conversations are in Lancer, you can manage them inside the CRM.
The CRM gives you two views:
Kanban view for moving leads through your workflow visually
Leads view for a more structured list-based view
You can also create tasks to keep track of next steps and follow-ups.
Custom statuses
Statuses are not fixed.
Lancer includes default statuses to help you get started, but you can customize them to match your own workflow.
That means you’re not locked into a predefined pipeline - you can organize your CRM in the way that makes sense for your process.
Some teams may want simple stages, while others may build a more detailed lead flow. Both work.
